An amazing turn out of 520 guests attended the fourth annual Think Fragile X Gala Dinner in the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth on Saturday, 18 November 2017.
An incredible $234,738 was raised on the night for Guide Dogs WA and Kids are Kids Therapy Centre. These vital funds will go towards continuing the life changing work of the Buddy Dogs for Kids program through Guide Dogs WA, which will provide Companion, Assistance and Therapy Dogs for children with special needs. As well as providing specialised equipment for the Sensory Xploration Hub and Therapy Scholarships at Kids are Kids.
Karl Langdon was this year’s MC as well as the auctioneer for the live auction which was full of incredible items and experiences. Some big buyers in the room dug deep snapping up everything from a signed Ed Sheeran Guitar, a framed Adam Gilchrist cricket bat, a holiday for ten to Phuket as well a beautiful piece of artwork from Perth artist Gem Fong.
While guests showed their generosity in both the live and silent auctions it was the special live appeal which really showed just how generous the guests were. It costs $35,000 to purchase a puppy to join the Buddy Dog for Kids program and after seeing just how life changing these dogs are 35 guests jumped up to purchase a plush guide dog toy for $1000 each. Absolutely incredible.
The theme of the night was ‘Reflection’ – Maria and Luke Goss, Founders of the Think Fragile X Foundation have prided themselves on being very transparent and have always wanted to make sure people who support their Foundation have confidence that they follow through and deliver on what they promised with the money raised. They took their guests on a journey showing them exactly where the money from each of their previous Gala dinners has gone and the difference it has made to so many WA kids and their families.
Guests heard heart felt speeches from both Luke and Maria, as they let them into the beautiful madness that is their Fragile X world. Another guest speakers on the night included the Professor Andrew Whitehouse from Telethon Kids Institute, Lisa Hoffman from Kids are Kids Therapy Centre and Dr Clare Allen from Guide Dogs WA.
Over the past four years the Think Fragile X Foundation has raised an xtraordinary $711,503.
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible.
The Think Fragile X Gala Dinners wouldn’t be possible without all of our dedicated volunteers and sponsors.
